Well I never thought I would really see what a Hurricane is, but we got to experience Hurricane Ike. The days before the storm, I prepared, made sure I had a menu of food to prepare with no electricity. The day before the Hurricane hit, we were told we were in for a direct hit, so we prepared for the worst. We cleared everything out of our backyard, which took a couple of nights (we had to dissasemble the trampoline). Then Doug placed the box spring mattress to our guest bed again the inside window to prevent glass shattering everywhere in the event of the worst. And since the kids all sleep upstairs and we're downstairs, we moved the top of the queen bed into our master closet (the inner most room in our home) and that's where we slept the night of the hurricane. It got kind of hot because we lost power early Friday evening, but at least I knew we were all safe. What an adventure. I'll post more details about after, thought I didn't take any still pics of after because we didn't have much damage. I do have video of it, though I don't know how to post that. What I learned from this Hurricane is that I'm glad I was prepared, because we didn't fear. It got hot because of no AC which is relied on heavily, but we managed just fine. The kids didn't have school for a week, so we just played like it was summer again.

Wow, it sounds like you guys were more than prepared! Good for you and I'm glad you are all ok. Did your house or yard get damaged at all? And did you all sleep in the closet?
